Faith

God is Still Speaking

As stated in the UCC Statement of Faith, we acknowledge that “God calls us into the church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be servants in the service of the whole human family.” We seek to live this calling through worship, youth activities, mission activities (including our Food Pantry, serving San Dimas and La Verne), and in-depth study of the Bible in its historical context.

We Do Not Walk Alone

We have learned from experience that we cannot walk the path of faith alone; we need one another, not only for support but also for the greater influence for good that together we can make possible.

Even so, we believe in the freedom and responsibility of the individual and the right to private judgment in the worship of God; we honor the rich and varied individual gifts and visions that each of us bring to the table. Remembering that Christ welcomed all people, we welcome and celebrate as members people of all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, ages, and physical abilities. Every honest seeker of faith can find a home here. While recognizing our autonomy as a local church within the United Church of Christ, we honor ecumenical and interfaith relationsips as ways in which the “Still-Speaking God” is revealed to our world.

Scripture

We hold Scripture as being essential to our life of faith, so we take Scripture seriously for what it truly is: holy and sacred literature with a deep and important history. Scripture represents for us the Word of God. In our adult Bible study program, we seek to uncover the authors’ inspired witness by setting the text it fully in its historical, cultural, and linguistic context; using the best tools of modern scholarship to help the Bible’s authors speak to us across the centuries.
